The first production, based on a sci-fi novel, is set to launch on Shahid VIP in July.
MBC Group’s Arabic-language streaming platform Shahid has partnered with Barajoun Entertainment, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s animation and visual effects studio.
Through this partnership, Barajoun Entertainment will produce five Arabic-language original animations, which will be released exclusively in the Shahid Originals category on Shahid VIP – Shahid’s premium subscription service – over the next three years.
This latest collaboration aims to develop and promote original Arabic animations that feature diverse stories that appeal to local and international viewers. It’s also part of both companies’ mission to mentor and support pioneering animators and other talented content creators, providing platforms where their work can be viewed by a wider audience.
Commenting on the partnership, Tareq Al-Ibrahim, Director of MBC1, MBC Drama and Shahid VIP Content said, “We are extremely excited to partner with Barajoun Entertainment, the region’s pioneers in the animation industry. It is important for us to tell stories that reflect the reality of the region, carry its values, reflect its history and even predict its future. We are confident that our partnership with Barajoun Entertainment, led by Ayman Jamal, will help strengthen the animation industry in the GCC and across the MENA region, raising the industry to the global standard.
Ayman Jamal, Founder and Producer of Barajoun Entertainment, added, “This is an important decision that encourages the development of the entire animation industry in the region. At Barajoun, we support the process and production of unique and useful content, created to the highest technical and technological standards.
